Meghan McCain certainly has the credentials to talk about politics, after all her father has been in the public realm
as long as she has been alive, but that doesn’t necessarily make those views any more relevant to the betterment of
the republic along with those of her hosts with the most at the “The View.”
In case you missed
it, Meghan and the gang from the show spent a few minutes on several subjects, such as Sarah Palin’s most recent speech,
Rob Emanuel’s “retard” comment and of course the dreaded Tea Party Movement.
According
to Meghan, the Tea Party is full of racists and is not the right movement to start a revolution. You read that correctly.
Meghan McCain said that, “revolutions start with young people,” which by her analysis are turned off by the tea
party. Is Meghan McCain in support of a revolution in this country? That sounds subversive to me, which would
certainly prove her statement that her ideologies are different than that of the Tea Party’s.
Who
are the racists in the Tea Party you might ask? According to Meghan, those who think that common sense and general literacy
are basic requirements for taking part in the greatest right this country has to offer, voting. I suppose that every
university on the planet would be considered racists since they require prospective students to take certain exams to qualify
for admission.
Being literate and understanding the basics about voting and the candidates makes the processes
that much fairer. Having a bunch of zealous whom ever supporters going around on election day picking up homeless
people, vagrants and otherwise individuals that have no idea who the candidate is or what they stand for is out wrong. How
does America benefit from people being nudged to put their check mark in the box for someone they have never seen or heard?
Sure the person who gets this most votes wins, but it should not just be about popularity.
Everyone should
get to vote, but just like purchasing a gun there should be some minimum requirements to do. Guns are not dangerous, but a
convicted murder with one is, hence why back ground checks are done before buying one. Same goes for voting. Voting
is a right, but people who pick a candidate because of how great of a speaker they are could in fact make our country a dangerous
place. Hitler was widely popular, but he did not quite fit the bill for the best man to do the job.
If meeting
a simple literacy requirement is racists then why isn’t our eighteen year old voting age requirement? Have you
ever seen the show “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?” Most of those voting age people get embarrassed
by fifth graders on just about every subject you can think of. Would you rather have an inept 35 year old voting, or
a 15 year kid who knows more about foreign policy than half the senators? The point is you can not trump basic intelligence
with age. I agree that five year olds should not vote, but if you are going to call someone a racists for taking a stand
on literacy and voting, then be prepared to go down that slippery slope.
She goes on with a few other comments
and ends with saying that this kind of rhetoric coming from the Tea Party is what is causing all of the anger and division
in this country and anyone who thinks otherwise is smoking something. Seems like there is no better way to divide than
to give an ultimatum which is what she did. According to Meghan those who want America to get back to operating under
the constitution are smoking something.
More often than not, her appearance on the show was nothing more
than a plug for her book which is coming out in August(which she mentioned at the very beginning) and the many public appearances
where she is going to give her take on all this stuff. I applaud her for speaking her mind, that is what America is
all about, but once again like most other Washington insiders she has little or no regard for anything but her own agenda.
It is good to see a young person out there working to get the word out about their ideals, but she deserves just as much criticism
as the rest of those who do the same thing.
Finally it would be prudent to point out Meghan’s obvious discriminatory
ideas about revolutions. They are not started by young people, they are started by anyone who understands that the way it
is being done is wrong and something must break (no pun intended). Age, race, gender, religion does not matter, only
the wisdom and insight to understand when as a people they are being oppressed by what ever measures. Freedom and unity
are based on the principals of common sense, doing the right thing and servant hood, not the ideology of a political party.
